The Chauhan haveli was glowing under the warm morning sun. Marigold garlands hung beautifully, the sound of dhol echoed in the air, and guests moved around with excitement. It was supposed to be a perfect wedding day.
But destiny had other plans.
Anika Kapoor arrived at the village with no idea that her life was about to change forever. Dressed in simple elegance, she looked completely out of place in the traditional surroundings. Her city attitude and confidence were evident in every step she took.
"Maa, seriously... yeh sab kitna different hai," she said, looking around.
Sunita Kapoor sighed. "Anika, dhyaan se rehna. Yeh gaon hai, yahan sab alag hota hai."
"Relax, Maa. Main manage kar lungi," Anika replied casually.
As she walked into the courtyard, her eyes met his.
Veer Singh Chauhan.
He stood there, calm and composed, observing everything silently. There was authority in his posture and control in his gaze. The moment he saw Anika, something about her caught his attention instantly.
"Yeh kaun hai?" Veer asked, his tone low but firm.
Before anyone could answer, panic spread across the haveli.
"Dulhan bhaag gayi!"
The music stopped. Conversations died. Silence took over.
Sunita Kapoor's face turned pale. "Yeh... yeh nahi ho sakta. Hamari izzat..."
Thakur Mahendra Singh Chauhan stepped forward, his presence commanding instant attention. His voice was calm, but carried undeniable authority.
"Agar dulhan gayab hai, to hum ruk nahi sakte. Shaadi aage badhni hai... to kaun uski jagah lega?"
His eyes slowly landed on Anika.
Her breath hitched. "Main...? No way!"
Rajesh Kapoor spoke firmly, leaving no space for argument.
"Anika, yeh family ki izzat ka sawaal hai. Tumhe hi karna hoga."
Anika shook her head, panic rising. "No, Papa! Main yeh nahi kar sakti!"
Before things could escalate further, Veer stepped forward. Calm, steady, and completely in control.
"Shant ho jao, Shehzadi," he said, his voice low but firm.
Anika stared at him in disbelief. "Excuse me?! Shehzadi?"
Veer's lips curved slightly.
"Situation samajhne ki koshish karo, Chhoti. Ab tum yahan ho... aur tumhe yahan rehna hoga."
Anika crossed her arms, glaring. "I'm not doing this! Aap log mujhe force nahi kar sakte, Mr. Villager!"
Veer didn't react to her tone. Instead, he looked straight into her eyes.
"Ziddi ladki ho tum," he said calmly. "Lekin kabhi kabhi, life choices nahi deti."
The atmosphere grew heavier with every passing second.
Anika felt trapped.
Anika had come to attend his sister wedding.
Not to become the bride.
But surrounded by expectations, traditions, and her family's desperate eyes-she realized there was no easy way out.
And standing right in front of her was a man who wasn't going to let her walk away.
Her life had just changed... and there was no turning back.
